Through collective philanthropy, the Fund for Women invests and advocates to empower women and girls
in Delaware to achieve their potential by bringing together our knowledge and passion. As a giving circle
of the Delaware Community Foundation which believes that communities are strongest when all people
have the opportunity to thrive, the FFW is committed to promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the
Founders we recruit, the organizations we fund, and the communities we impact.  This 2-year scholarship
provides opportunities for new founders to be part of the grants committee so that we include additional
diverse experiences in the grant assessment process.

The FFW grants committee is made up of 20-30 people who read and review applications beginning in
February of each year. Initially committee members review and score about 30 grants over a 10-day
period. Near the end of February, another 25-30 grants are read and scored again. Then in early March,
a 2–3-hour meeting completes the time commitment as the final decisions are made as to which
organizations receive grants.
After the 2-year commitment on the grants committee, each scholarship recipient remains a Founder with
the ability to receive all the benefits of Founders at FFW.
